25082007 Junior Division August Meet

On the 25th. August 2007, Junior Division of Honbu 4 held a meet at Sg. Puyu Kaikan, Butterworth.

The Junior PIC, members and the parent gathered at the kaikan at 07.30pm.
The gathering started with chanting of Daimoku and Gongyo.



As the National Day is just around the corner (31st Aug), the members sang a very patriotic song 'Tanggal Tiga Puluh Satu' (Eve of 31st) lead by Sook Yuen. The children were having a very good time singing this song until they have sang the song twice.




The Junior members were divided into 2 study groups - Primary 1, 2, 3 and Primary 4, 5, 6. The lower Primary group were lead by Lee Lee and the upper primary group were lead by Xing Wei. The study is about the 19th. century nurse, Florence Nightingale, "the Lady with the Lamp".




Now it is the time for the creative art session. Siew Lee have lead the members into making the Malaysian National Flower, the 'Bunga Raya' (hisbiscus). The demonstration presented based on the simple steps:

1) Cut 1/3 area of the plastic 50cl mineral water bottle into two.
2) On the upper side with the cap, cut diagonally into 5 evenly big strips.
3) Fold down the strips to make the face of the flower.
4) Cut the corners of the strips to make it rounded.
5) Glue the toilet paper on the strips.
6) Cut the foam and paste it on the bottom of the bottle cap.
7) Tie a fine wire on the other side of the cap to make the stem.
8) Tape the wires with green paper tape.
9) Color the toilet paper.
10) Push in the decorative wire in the middle of the foam.





The children were having a good time painting the Bunga Raya that they have. Some of the children were so enthusiastic in painting and making their own colorful Bunga Raya. The children were having a great time that night.



The next entertainment session was presented by Ren Hua, 8 years old member serenading the members and audiences with her violin talent. She played several songs to the audience.




Next was the story-telling time presented by Lee Ping. She was presenting 'the Story of Yao Yao Cat' and the children were listening attentively to the story.



The gathering ended at 09.30pm and the children had a very happy and memorable experience that night. They have proudly displayed their own National Flower before following their parents back home on that wet night.
